Meet Edden

Owner/Founder of Soulshine Counseling

Edden Ered received her Bachelor's degree from UCLA (go Bruins!) where she studied sociology and psychology while also working in the UCLA Marriage & Relationships Research Lab- studying the impacts of socioeconomic status, social policies and various adversities on relationship outcomes. She then went on to receive her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University where she again participated in meaningful research of the importance of systemic and cultural considerations when using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). This strongly shaped the way she views the use of diagnoses in her work. During her time at CLU, Edden specialized in Trauma and supported individuals at the CLU Community Counseling Clinic as a student trainee and then as an associate.

Edden has worked in various treatment settings and ultimately found her passion for supporting clients in private practice settings as she is able to provide tailored, individualized, deeper and thoughtful care to her clients' unique needs, pacing, goals, and varying life contexts.

Edden has extensive training in supporting those who are healing from trauma, especially developmental and attachment trauma, eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety--challenges that we often see disconnecting individuals' minds and bodies. In turn, she uses a client centered, attachment based approach involving many somatic based tools, nervous system regulation work, ACT, CBT, Brainspotting (level I and II trained), and more to support her clients on their healing journey.

Beyond the Therapy Room...

When not working with clients, Edden values the same things she encourages in therapy--connection, curiosity, rest, and meaningful time with the people and activities that matter most to her. You can most likely find her outdoors, surrounded by some sort of animal, lost in a book, taking photos of a sunset, trying fun new restaurants & coffee shops, or traveling the world with her loved ones.
